Delightful statistics
The international Siauliai airport is becoming more and more inviting: not only customers are pleased with convenient geographical location between East and West, with 3500 metres long runway, but also cheaper cargo service cost.
"In 2008 the circulation was nearly 6m Litas, when in 2007 it was 3m Litas. In 2007 there was about 1000 tons of cargo transferred, when in 2008 there was more 2000 tons transferred. There was more than a hundred and a half aircrafts serviced" - according to Siauliai airport director Romas Miksys.
Siauliai airport infrastructure and procedures are suitable for working with cargo aircrafts, the ones that are mainly landing here. Siauliai airport is specialising in servicing especially huge cargo aircrafts such as Boeing 747-200, An-124 "Ruslan", Boeing 757-200, Boeing 767-500, DC 10, A 310, MD 82, MD 90, C17 and others. The airport is constantly cooperating with Israel cargo transfer companies CAL, El, AL, Russian "Poliot Cargo Airlines", "Tesis", Ukrainian "FR Aviation", "Wind Rose" and others.

Developmental plans
One of the main priorities of Siauliai airport is to improve passenger service; a passenger terminal is under reconstruction to achieve this. "The sterile zone is being renovated, catering facilities and VIP lounge are being reconstructed. The arrivals zone will have two passenger flows to the Schengen and Third world countries. There are planned two passenger control corridors. Luggage check-in system will be renovated and computerised; there will be airport security and customs rooms appointed. In 2009 we are planning to build an extension and the EU funds resources will be used to purchase the equipment necessary to perform border crossing procedures. Airport security system will also be improved. We expect to finish the reconstruction this year. The renovated terminal will enable us to serve more than 200 thousand passengers a year" - according to R. Miksys.
In 2009 the detailed plan should be confirmed, where a civil Siauliai airport territory would be planned and then it will be possible to start creating and implementing more specific developmental plans. A lot of resources are used to purchase aircraft maintenance equipment.
Siauliai airport director is predicting that the growth in 2009 would be 5 percent.
