Live Cattle Transporting by air to Israel from the International Siauliai Airport Renewed
Live cattle shipping to Israel from international Siauliai airport has been renewed. On April 27, airlines “El Al Israel Airlines” cargo aircraft Boeing 747- 400 landed at international Siauliai airport to be loaded with 118 tons of live animals (cattle).
Cattle export via international Siauliai airport to Israel has been carried out since 2007, and for a long period of time accounted for more than half of the total Lithuanian cattle export to Israel (approx.6000 tons). Since December 2015, the export of calves via Siauliai airport ceased due to increasing competition. So, it is expected that the renewed cattle shipping will be successfully continued in the future.
Live cattle transportation is a part of the project “New Baltic Air Cargo Gate”. Since 2011 till 2016, municipal company “Siauliu Oro Uostas” loaded 18963 tons of cargo. The project is implemented together with SIA “FCG Ltd” (Latvia) and JSC “Rikusta” (Lithuania) and is related to transportation of the common goods, live animals, heavy, perishable cargos through Siauliai Airport. All three companies are specialists in their fields, municipal company Siauliu Oro Uostas provides aircraft ground handling services and administers the operation of the airport; SIA “FCG Ltd” provides agency services to air carriers, JSC “Rikusta” performs customs clearance services, freight forwarding, customs warehouses and transhipment facilities’ operation management.
